Bob Thacker has been reading, teaching, and writing about Cather since the mid-1980s. He has a particular passion for her work. Most recently he edited her poetry for the multi-volume scholarly edition of her works published by the University of Nebraska Press.
Bob is Dana Professor of Canadian Studies at SLU. He is a leading academic expert on Canadian writer Alice Munro (generally regarded as one of the world’s best fiction writers), comparisons of US and Canadian culture, and other topics relating to Canada. He has been working on Munro’s fiction as a critic and bibliographer since 1974. In 2005 Bob published the first extended Munro biography, Alice Munro: Writing Her Lives (revised and updated in 2011).
