This course will take up the life and career of Willa Cather (1873-1947), arguably the leading American novelist of the 1920s and a sometimes neglected literary genius.
Bob Thacker has been reading, teaching, and writing about Cather since the mid-1980s. He has a particular passion for her work. Most recently he edited her poetry for the multivolume scholarly edition of her works published by the University of Nebraska Press.
NOTE: Suggested books by W. Cather: A Lost Lady (1923), My Mortal Enemy (1926), and either Death Comes for the Archbishop (1927) or Shadows on the Rock (1931).
