“Periodic Tables of the Elements” adorn science room walls. Why do they have various weird shapes? Why are there 10 to 20 more elements on them than when you were in school? Why is the periodic table an important tool for scientists? Using hands-on activities, you will explore these questions and more.

Jim Barry is a retired chemistry teacher. He currently serves on the SOAR Board of Directors, and is Co-chair of the Curriculum Committee. He also is a frequent SOAR presenter. In Spring 2006 he was named a SuperSOARer.
