The course begins with a discussion of Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet.” As we view the films, we will discuss the interpretive potential revealed in them. We will screen three “Hamlet” films - the ones starring Olivier (1948), Branagh (1996), and Ethan Hawke (2000). For many years

Mark Coleman taught Shakespeare at SUNY Potsdam. In his classes he made extensive use of films.
