A Potsdam native, Dr. David Mathie has served on the SOAR Board since 2019 and is Chair of the Curriculum and Scheduling committees. In his pre-retirement life, he was a Professor of Music at Boise State University in Idaho for 24 years, as well as a member of the Boise Philharmonic. Before becoming a teacher he was a professional trombonist living and working in New York City; while there he performed as a free-lance musician with a variety of groups from the Metropolitan Opera to the Temptations, and took just about any classical/jazz/pop music gig that came his way.
