Geoffrey Clark

Geoffrey Clark is Professor of History at SUNY Potsdam. A graduate of Wesleyan University (B.A.) and Princeton University (M.A., Ph.D.), where he specialized in the economic, social and cultural history of European finance, especially with respect to the insurance industry. He is the author of Betting on Lives: Life Insurance in English Society and Culture, 1695-1777 (1999) and The Appeal of Insurance (2010), as well as numerous articles and reviews. He has also been featured on BBC’s Radio 4.
