In recent years, false confessions have been the subject of intense research. Why do people falsely confess to crimes they did not commit? Who are they? Who is responsible? And why do we hesitate to believe the confession is false? Join the discussion about this phenomenon, and see how innocent people find themselves in prison.

Steven Gilbert possesses a Ph.D. in criminal justice, a Master’s degree in forensic science, and a fellowship in forensic medicine. He is retired from the United States Army and federal law enforcement and is a retired Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. His doctoral research addressed false confessions. His dissertation was entitled, “What Criminal Investigators Believe are the Causes of True and False Confessions.”
