The first class will focus on how nuclear energy works. The presenter’s Navy and space nuclear experience will be the basis for this part. The second class will focus on the status of nuclear energy in the USA. He also will talk about the US Navy nuclear power program, beginning with his own training and subsequent submarine experience.

After leaving the Navy in 1968, Eric Thatcher obtained an MS in Nuclear Engineering from M.I.T., and then he went to work on nuclear power for propelling space ships.
