Many people might not think mathematics and food are related. However, from farm to taste, mathematics can be used to gain a deeper understanding of what we eat. Why do certain cooking techniques work better than others? Will the food you enjoy now be here in twenty years? Why do certain foods taste better than others? In this interactive, tasty SOAR course we will have fun with pi, pints, and products and explore some important ways math and science impact what you eat and how you enjoy it.

Katie Fowler and Joe Skufca are both Associate Professors of Mathematics at Clarkson. They have the same focus: computational applied mathematics. Katie and Joe enjoy using mathematics and research to understand the everyday world around us, and that includes food!
