These four lectures will cover Canadian history from the formation of the Dominion in 1867 to the late twentieth century. Canada evolved gradually from a British dependency to an independent nation within the Commonwealth. It has struggled to maintain its identity by avoiding American absorption, and to maintain its unity as a bicultural nation.
Art Johnson spent 40 years teaching Canadian history at the University of Maine and then at SUNY Potsdam.
