As 2012 is a presidential election year, it comes with a flurry of polls and polling. In this course we will discuss the process of random sampling and polling. We will talk about all aspects of the process of polling, as well as how to interpret results from recent polls, both local and national.
Mike Schuckers teaches statistics at St. Lawrence University including a course on sampling and data collection. His research focuses on the development and application of statistical methods across a broad range of areas including bioauthentication and the National Hockey League. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal and ESPN the Magazine. He has a special interest in the communication and interpretation of statistical methods and results for very broad audiences.
