Many are familiar with Laura Ingalls Wilder’s series of historical novels. This course explores more in-depth information about the writing of those works and also covers some of her lesser-known writings, such as early articles and poetry. Also the presenter will discuss the difficult road to publication of Wilder’s historical fiction, the characteristics of her writing, as well as her daughter’s role in her writings.
Jane Subramanian is retired from her position as librarian and college archivist at SUNY Potsdam, but is still working part-time for the college in the archives. Her interest in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s works was rekindled during her pursuit of her M.L.S. degree. Jane is the author of Laura Ingalls Wilder: An Annotated Bibliography of Critical, Biographical, and Teaching Studies.
NOTE: This is a repeat of the SOAR course she offered in fall 2009.
