This presentation introduces you to grass pellets as a means to heat your home. This locally grown product can reduce our need for other heating sources such as fossil fuels. The presenter will share what he learned through an ongoing New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) grant, along with other information about local applications of grass pellets in the Canton/Potsdam area.
Art Hurlbut is an engineer who taught at SUNY Canton in the School of Engineering Technology for 34 years, where most of his time was spent in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning program. To keep up-to-date in the field, he did design work for local architects and engineers and recently worked on two NYSERDA grants studying the use of grass pellets as a heating fuel.
