In these three lectures we will explore the remarkable culture and society of Islamic Spain and examine its internal weaknesses and the external threats that led to its decline and fall. Finally we will assess the legacy it left and the impact it still has on modern Spain and western culture.

Walter Weitzmann is retired from the SUNY Potsdam Department of History. He spends his winters in Spain, studying its history and enjoying the sun.
