In this course, Neil will tell us about the Yo-Yo: the history and the science, and he will teach us the tricks, too. Then you can impress your grandchildren with your expertise on the toy you had as a kid.
Neil Garner is a retired science and technology teacher with many hobbies and interests, many of which he has shared in the courses he has taught for SOAR, such as how to play the harmonica; seeing things in three dimensions (Stereographs to 3D); getting a brief history of the radio; learning about our postal history before stamps and viewing his collection of electronics and memorabilia relating to the history of radio. As Neil says, “I have more hobbies than time.” But he always finds time to play a little banjo and harmonica (but not at the same time!). In Fall 2014, Neil was awarded the “Leon LeBeau SOARing Educator Award.
