For over 30 years, the presenter has been recording “Old Timers” from along the St. Lawrence River, gathering their stories of life in the early 20th Century. He will present a number of these stories along with historic photographs. Topics will range from “Filling the Ice House” and “Sturgeon Fishing” to “Bootlegging” and tall tales based on actual events. He will also instruct you on techniques so you can begin recording your own oral histories.

Tom French is the author of the award-winning book, River Views: A History of the 1000 Islands in 3-D, a collection of 19th Century stereoviews with an enclosed collapsible 3-D viewer. His work has been featured in Adirondack Life, Mac|Life, The Watertown Daily Times, and the website: Thousand Island Life.com (www.thousandislandslife.com), and North Country Public Radio. Tom maintains the website: www.riverstories.org where he features many of the recordings, old home movies, and photographs that he has collected.
