Print Info

This course covers the earliest surviving evidence of fiber work from the East and the West. Our main focus, however, is primarily on Chinese fibers which are so unique from western fibers. We will discuss how the nature of these fibers, especially the nature of silk, necessitated the creation of many inventions. We will conclude with a look at the changes wrought when the Westerners began to colonize in the East.

Ina Brockriede has had a longtime interest in China. Learning about Chinese history continues to be a driving force in her life. Ina is happy to share her knowledge.
