This course could be called “It’s In Your Genes” for it aims to improve your understanding of the importance and role of DNA in today’s society. After covering some basics of DNA and learning how it works, we will investigate topics such as genetic diseases and cancer, genetically modifi ed foods, and DNA genealogy. Participants can experience extracting DNA from some common foods.

Jan Trybula is a professor of biology at SUNY Potsdam. He teaches many courses on genetics.
