This is what will be covered in the course:

  • Session 1: An Overview of Hospice Care (the scope and nature of hospice care - who is eligible for hospice care; what services hospice provides; the 12 cost of hospice care; hospice care in the home, nursing home, and hospital; etc.).
  • Session 2: Just TALK About It (raises awareness of the importance of having conversations with loved ones and completing advance directives, a Health Care Proxy and a Living Will). 
  • Session 3: Options for Long Term Care (types, fi nancial considerations, options in facilities and in the home, eligibility requirements for spousal and community Medicaid, and long term care insurance).

Brad Catling is Director of Development and Community Relations at Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. He has been working at Hospice for the last three years. Prior to that, he held a similar position at St. Lawrence University.
