Find out about the "who? what? where? when? and how?" of the Dead Sea Scrolls. This course surveys the discovery and gradual assembly of the Dead Sea Scrolls, as well as their contents and the recent controversy surrounding them. Special emphasis is given to the impact of the Scrolls on Hebrew and Christian Scriptures and the Intertestamental Period (c. 100 BCE to 70 CE). A film about the Dead Sea Scrolls will be shown at the last session.
Dan O’Connor is Charles A. Dana Professor Emeritus (Religious Studies) at SLU where he taught for 30 years.
