General Description of Position:

The SOAR Administrative Assistant is the “public face” of the organization and the person that most people interact with when they visit or call the office. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing routine office functions (e.g. answering phones/emails, filing, and using computer programs) in addition to those unique to SOAR. The person filling this role should have a basic knowledge of SOAR policies and procedures, possess excellent written and oral communication skills and exhibit initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure. This individual will also be interacting with members of the SUNY Potsdam staff and community at large. As the most visible member of the SOAR organization, the Administrative Assistant should demonstrate an appreciation of the SOAR philosophy in order to facilitate SOAR in its mission to provide stimulating and engaging learning opportunities for its members. The hours of the position may be flexible.
