DESCRIPTION / DIRECTIONS: Canton Free Library is a grey boxy two-story building across from the Park between the post office and the ice cream stand. SOAR classes are held in the Paige Room, named in honor of Josephine Paige, who served as Canton Free Library's first librarian, 1896-1910. Once inside the building either take the stairs or the (key activated) elevator to the basement and turn left. The Paige Room is down the halwayy on the left. Restrooms are across from the Paige Room.
PARKING: Parking is free at the far areas around the park. There is also some free parking behind the library (follow the one-way alley between the library and the post office to the parking lot (or enter the lot more easily from the entrances on Miner Street).
ACCESSIBILITY: There is one metered handicapped parking spot in front of the library. The library is handicapped accessible. To use the elevator, you need to push the button on the wall to the right of the elevator; someone will come with the key.
RESTROOMS: Downstairs across from the entrance to the Paige Room.
TECH and OTHER EQUIPMENT: (NOTES: a laptop can be checked out from the main desk, if available); digital projector (if available, you will need to ask permission to use it; both USB and blue VGA connections must be used to hook it up to a laptop); screen; VCR/DVD player; boom box (with CD, radio, cassette player); speakers; access to the Internet; small portable double-sided chalk board (chalk available); easel (available on request).
