DESCRIPTION / DIRECTIONS: Atwood Hall, an older red-sandstone building, is located on University Avenue, the side of campus nearest downtown Canton. Parking, however, is on the far side of campus (see below). Atwood houses the Education Department. The best parking is in Lot 1. Coming in on HWY 11, enter the "formal - well marked - intrance. You will soon come to far end of lot 1 on the right (across from the Arts Center and adjacent to Vilas Hall, at the far end of lot 1. (Presidents Office, staff  offices, etc. are in Vilas. (Hang your SUNY Potsdam parking permit!)  If you get a spot there, walk up the hill past Vilas Hall. At the corner, look right at the redish building (smaller than the building on your left beyond bariers...) - that building is Atwood. Walk up the half-flight of steps that face Richardson Hall, behind you now. Once inside... the door, take the steps to the basement. Room 2 is the first room on the right.

If there are no parking spots in lot 1, drive farther up, turn right (past Atwood), and immediately left, the left again (on Park Street) and follow that to lot J, at the far end of campus, walk up the hill on the path closest to Park St. Another lot you can use is lot D, (it is behind the  sports complex). (This lot does not need a pass to park in it). Cross the road when you get to the book store, and walk for the large Student Center, then turn left and follow that inner path to Atward Hall.  Pass by - Sykes Dining Hall on the left. Hepburn Hall (sits back a ways), Carnegie Hall, the Chapel, and Richardson Hall, and finally arriving at Atwood Hall!  Enter Atwood at the doorway facing Richardson Hall, descend the half-flight of stairs to the basement. Room 2 is the first room on the right.

PARKING: Park in the D lot or J lot. From downtown Canton: turn onto Park Street at the light (between the between the post office and the park) and drive past the SLU campus to the far side of the campus buildings.
To "D" lot. Turn right (along the back side of the sports complex) into parking lot D (NOTE 1: the small lot facing Park St. is not part of Lot D; do not park there!) NOTE 2: you can park anywhere in lot D without a permit. You then will need to walk across Park St. NOTE 3: only use the crosswalks to get across Park St. to your SOAR classes.
    To "J" lot
. Turn left into the large parking lot just beyond the the science buildings on the left (and the sports complex on the right). Do NOT park in "FACULTY" or "GUEST" parking spots - these are ONLY for SLU issued parking passes...park in one of the open spots farther from the science building. From J Lot, walk up the sidewalk to Park Street.  Don't forget to hanb your Potsdam Parking Pass on the review mirror.

ACCESSIBILITY: The classroom building is NOT handicap accessible. There are steps leading into and up to the entrances, and steps going down to the basement. Parking in Lot 1 is not so far from the building, but the walk to get there is uphill. It's best that mildly handicap people be dropped off at the corner of University and Romoda Drive closest to the building.

RESTROOMS: Men's and women's restrooms are in the basement corner on the end that faces Richardson Hall.

TECH and OTHER EQUIPMENT: podium with computer

FURNISHINGS: chairs /lab tables
