Fall 2013 Bus Trip to Syracuse Stage

ABOUT: Take a bus trip to the Syracuse Stage Theatre in Syracuse to attend the play "Blithe Spirit" by Noel Coward "The funniest ghost story ever written. Novelist Charles Condomine enlists Madam Arcat, a most delighfully eccentric character, to hold a seance at his home, hoping to raise some ideas for a new book.  Instead, she raises the ghost of his former wife, Elvira, who is determined to wreak havoc (and succeeds) on Charles' current marriage to Ruth." 

THIS TRIP INCLUDES:
1) box lunch at the theater (supplied by Phoebe's Restaurant). Choice of tuna salad on a croissant or ham and swiss on rye (sandwiches come with tomato and lettuce; also included paper napkin, mayo and mustard packets, a cookie, and a can of soad or bottled water).
2)Theater Talk (in the Sutton Pavilion before the show) by Alan Allport, Assistant Professor of History at Syracuse University. Professor Allport received his PhD in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. His first book, Demobbed: Coming Home after the Second World War was published by Yale University Press in 2009 and won the 2010 Longman-History Today Book of the Year Award. He is currently working on a new book which will be a social history of the British Army in the Second World War. Professor Allport teaches courses at Syracuse University on modern British history and the history of war and society. He has written for a number of international publications, including The Times (London) and the London Review of Books. Talk includes a question and answer period.
3) Ticket to the play (matinee performance)
4) Dinner at the Ramada Inn, Watertown. Entrees include: slow roasted prime ribe; baked boneless chicken breast (with bread stuffing) in white cream sauce; haddock ala Skaneateles, or vegetable lasagna. (Included: Chef's choice of soup; salad; starch; vegetable, dinner rolls w/butter and also Chef's assorted dessert station, and coffee decaf or tea.  (Cocktails are available, but are not included in the cost.)
5) Bus transpotation

TRAVEL SCHEUDLE (all times are approximate): 

• 8:45am - POTSDAM Pick Up: Pine Street Arena parking lot. Turn off Hwy 11 onto Pine Street; drive past Agway and continue on about 1/2 mile. Pine Street Arena will be on your right. Park in the lot.
• 9:00am - CANTON Pick Up: Price Chopper parking lot. Corner of Hwy 11 and Hwy 310. (On the NE end of Canton.)
• 9:30am - GOUVERNEUR Pick Up: Main Street Municipal parking lot. Behind the store buildings.
• 12:00pm - Arrive at Syracuse Stage. Box Lunch at the theater (choices described above)
• 1:00pm - Theater Talk on Blythe Spirit (in the Sutton Pavilion) by Syracuse University Professor of History Alan Allport. (see above for details)
• 2:00pm-4:30 - Play Performance at Syracuse Stage Theatre
• 6:00pm - Dinner at Ramada Inn in Watertown

• 7:15pm (approx.) - Leave for home
• 8:00pm GOUVERNEUR Drop Off
