Make the most of your next visit to an art museum or gallery. You will learn the technical vocabulary used by artists, art historians, and critics and will practice creating your own formal analysis of an artwork. We will look at examples of modern and contemporary art in order to better understand art movements of the 20th and 21st century.
Caroline Downing has been teaching Art History and Archaeology at SUNY Potsdam for 35 years. She earned her doctorate in Classical Archaeology at Indiana University, writing on Late Roman wall painting.
