In this class we will look at the Haudenosaunee (People of the Longhouse) more specifically the Kanienkeha:ka (Mohawk) before European contact. We will talk about the Great Law of Peace, which is the basis for modern Democracy, traditional roles and responsibilities, how our people lived in harmony and the journey it took to get there.

Katrina Oakes-Herne is the Community Outreach Worker for the Seeds of Resiliency Program with the Seven Dancers Coalition as well as a Cultural Educator for the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Healing to Wellness Court. Previously she was the Traditional Support Worker for the SRMT Department of Social Services. Along with degrees in Social Work, Addictions and Cultural Counseling, Katrina brings a lifetime of cultural traditions and learning to the table.
