Some have compared our symbology to the equivalent of a modern logo. When we see certain imagery, we have stored information that comes to the front of our minds. You may have seen signs, symbols or flags that you know are somehow relevant to your Indigenous neighbors but are unsure of the meanings. This course will take a look at the most common symbols, provide a description and meaning of each.

Katrina Oakes-Herne is the Community Outreach Worker for the Seeds of Resiliency Program with the Seven Dancers Coalition as well as a Cultural Educator for the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Healing to Wellness Court. Previously she was the Traditional Support Worker for the SRMT Department of Social Services. Along with degrees in Social Work, Addictions and Cultural Counseling, Katrina brings a lifetime of cultural traditions and learning to the table.
