This class briefly examines the histories and cultures of the Native peoples of what is now the United States. Topics include oral traditions, origins, language, family structures, resources, political structures, and contemporary issues. Susan will also try to examine issues that are of interest to the class.

Susan Stebbins began teaching at SUNY Potsdam in 1992. In addition to teaching general Anthropology classes, she has taught Native Americans, Women in Native American Cultures, Contemporary Issues in Native America, and Education in Native America. Her research has focused on Education, Gender Issues, and Native American images in history and modern pop culture.
