This course will present the role played by US Submarines in WW II. It will detail their successes, frustrations, and losses beginning with the attack on Pearl Harbor and ending with the Japanese surrender in August 1945.

Tom Butcher was the Supply Officer onboard the USS BERGALL (SSN667), a nuclear fast attack submarine, from 1972 to 1975. As such he was responsible for the management of the Boat's spare parts inventory and the food service. At sea, he was a Diving Officer.
