In 1991 Karen visited Ukraine, at that time a new country trying to find its foundation, then visited two more times. In 2023, 2024 and 2025 Gary travelled to Ukraine to help its people in a war for survival.
Karen Easter organized the Suicide prevention services for St Lawrence County and directed them for 47 years. In 1991 she was asked to go to Ukraine to assist their mental help assistance formation.
Gary Landrio started his railroad career with the OBPA railroad. Having assisted in the formation of twenty railroads in the US and Canada, he took off for Kyiv to assist people he never met.
