Hiking is very beneficial both physically and mentally. This area has a tremendous variety of hiking opportunities at all levels from difficult to accessible. The course will cover modern apps that can improve enjoyment and safety. The second session will involve an optional slow-paced hike appropriate to the group.
Tom Wheeler is presently chapter chair of the local ADK chapter. A former president of the Adirondack Forty-Sixers, a former president of ADK, he has hiked all of the northeastern peaks above 4000 feet and has done all of the ADK high peaks in winter. He and his wife have been avid birders and their travels have involved hikes in many foreign countries.
