This course will offer a photo tour of the presenter's backyard insects and provide tips on finding, photographing, and identifying some of your own smallest neighbors. The presentation will include a comparison of the iNaturalist and Bug Guide online identification tools, the results of planting explicitly for insects, and insight into how learning the basics of scientific names can quickly deepen your understanding of the insects who share our world.
Eudora Watson is a retired educator who, inspired by biologist Howard Ensign Evan's book Life on a Little-Known Planet, began photographing and identifying the insects in her yard years ago and has never looked back. More recently she began planting to provide food and shelter for insects.
