Dr. Gilbert possesses a Ph.D. in criminal justice, a master’s degree in forensic science, and fellowship in forensic medicine. He is retired from the United States Army and federal law enforcement and is a retired Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. His doctoral research addressed false confessions. His dissertation was entitled, “What Criminal Investigators Believe are the Causes of True and False Confessions.”
