Introduction to Chair Yoga [F-20-5]

Stretch, strengthen and relax! In Chair Yoga we enjoy benefits of yoga without getting down and up from the floor. All seated postures are done in a chair and the chair is used for balance and support during standing postures. No previous yoga experience required. Participants need a sturdy chair without arms and should wear comfortable exercise clothing. We usually do yoga barefoot. If this is not comfortable for you, wear sneakers or walking shoes.
Ellie began practicing yoga in 1999 (on the advice of her doctor) to address joint problems and pain associated with aging and arthritis. And yes, yoga has made a huge difference! After retiring from the IT department at SUNY Canton in 2007, Ellie became a yoga teacher, focusing on classes for seniors.
