A transcription project of North Country letters, ca. 1868-1871, reveals the contours of life in the Victorian Era. Based on the courtship letters of Henry Clark of Richville and Arvilla Lucelia Mills of Rensselaer Falls.

Dr. Thomas N. Baker is Associate Professor of History at SUNY Potsdam. He teaches the History of New York State.

Tabitha Brown, SUNY Potsdam ’20, took a historical transcription course with Dr. Baker, then followed up with an independent study and seminar paper on the letters.
