Not Hannibal Missouri, not New Hartford, Connecticut, but Elmira, New York! These two sessions will explore the impact of Mark Twain’s summer home and his Elmira family upon his life and works.

Gretchen Ehle Sharlow was born in Potsdam and grew up in Massena. She attended Syracuse University and holds a Master’s degree in Mark Twain Studies from Elmira College. She is Director Emerita of the Elmira College Center for Mark Twain Studies. Gretchen served as the Center’s director from 1992 until her retirement in 2002.
