Have you ever looked at a painting and wondered, “How did the artist do that?” If so, then this course is for you. We will analyze traditional paintings, examining the various principles of design used by artists to achieve their effects: line, texture, color, composition, etc. The first session will be in the classroom. The second session will be at the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, where you will choose a Remington painting to analyze, testing what you have learned. (NOTE: This is a 2 session class. You may attend only one session at the Remington Museum - your date will be deteremined at the first class meeting.)
NOTES: 1) Sign up only if you intend to go on the field trip (check the field trip dates/times to make sure you can attend at least one); 2) Sign-up for the trip to the Remington Museum at the first class session; 3) Museum entrance fee is $7 (group rate; pay at the door).
