Print Info

Photos preserve our history and tell our stories. Close to 200 glass plates and 300 photos from the 1950s have now been digitized and enlarged by Dennis Barr. Glass plates were certainly much more photographically clear and strikingly better than the negatives used for years to print photos. In this class the presenters will talk about the digitizing process and make comparisons between the different media. The photos themselves will tell the story of Canton.

Linda Casserly has been the Canton Town & Village Historian for 18 years. She retired from her full time position as Deputy Town Clerk & Tax Collector, and is now devoting three days a week to learning computer skills, helping people with genealogy questions, and working on projects with the public (high school and college students, and senior citizens).

Dennis Barr is a photographer and a Civil War reenactor. Some of his own recent photos can be seen on his website: http://twoguysandacamera.photoreflect.com/
