This course will cover the overall topic of climate change and human migration, and contextualize our research on this topic.  Also included are different short documentaries about issues affecting indigenous communities confronting this issue from what is called Alaska and Louisiana today.  These will provide case studies to anchor our broader global discussion and inform our discussion of the social justice implications of global climate change migration.

Dr. Jess Pearson is an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at SUNY Potsdam.  She works at the intersection of environmental conservation and Geographical Information Systems, studying invasive plants and climate.

Dr. Michael Popovi  is the Chair of the Department of Politics and Coordinator for International Studies at SUNY Potsdam. Born and raised in Europe, Michael has studied international migration in the global context for the past twenty-five years.
